After taking a short mission trip to Mexico with our church, we felt the Lord calling us to work on the foreign field. Even though we did not know exactly where we would be working, we knew that He wanted us to work with the Spanish speaking people of Latin America.
In January, 1994 we left our home in Oklahoma to begin language school in McAllen, TX in order to learn the Spanish language. During the time that we were studying we took several mission trips into the country of Mexico and were able to minister to a great number of people.
Two weeks before we completed language school the Lord spoke to us as to where he desired that we work. So we moved to the Heart of Mexico to a city called San Luis Potosi. San Luis Potosí is a city of nearly two million people and is located in the very center of Mexico. We lived in San Luis Potosí for five years and were able to share the Gospel with thousands of people, many who had never heard the Gospel.
After living in Mexico for five years we felt the Lord leading us to move back to the states and work in our home church of Shadeville Church of God Holiness. We felt that we needed some time to seek the Lord for the future of Eternal Refuge Ministries.
In 2003 we began once again to focus some of our effort toward the Spanish speaking people. We were honored to be able to take a two week trip with a wonderful church in Oklahoma, into the heart of Mexico and to preach to the Huasteca indians in and around the city of Valles, SLP. During this two week trip we were able to see around 50 souls saved for the Glory of God.
Since our trip we have began planning for the next trip and feel that the Lord is leading once again toward Mexico and the Spanish people. We are planning on continuing our trips into Mexico and other countries until the Lord speaks to us as to where he would have Eternal Refuge Ministries to continue it's work for Him.
