Greetings from Haiti,

Our newsletter that went out last week, told about the need for $75,000 to purchase a piece of land here in Port-au-Prince. On the day the newsletter was mailed, we met with the people who own the land to verify that they had clear title to the property and hopefully negotiate a lower price. Upon studying the survey of the land we found that squatters have built houses on the land. In order for us to actually get all of the land that we would be paying for, there would be numerous court battles and fees to get the squatters to move. We then realized that it was not the Lord's will for us to purchase it. We have been diligently looking for property the past four months and we keep going back to a piece that we looked at last November. I think we knew all along that it was the "one for us" but we just wanted to make sure. This week we both decided that this 1 1/2 acre, is definitely the one. We contacted the owner and began negotiating the price. The price that we finally settled on was $35,000. The land is actually worth around $45,000. We were pleased with the price and asked what kind of payment plan we could work out. The property owner said $20,000 down and $15,000 within 6 months. The immediate problem is raising the $20,000 down payment. We currently have $5,000 and need $15,000 more. I have already paid $3,800 for the taxes and legal fees, and as soon as we have the $20,000 we will be able to sign the papers and the property will be ours. We are seeking help from our faithful supporters. If you are able to help purchase this ground that will be used for House of Compassion Children's Home, a school, a church and possibly a clinic, we would appreciate it if you would respond to this e-mail and let us know how much you would like to invest in this work and when the funds would be available. The owner of the property is wanting to hear back from us as soon as possible. We are hoping to have the papers signed within the next week to 3 weeks.

After the papers are signed and we have taken possession will we begin building a wall around the premises to provide security before we begin building on it. So the price will still be around the original $75,000 that we put in the newsletter for land and wall, but we are now getting 5 times more land. We are very excited about this step. We will finally be in one location for good (plus no more paying rent) and we will be able ot build a home a to meet our exact needs. We are hoping to take up to 36 children when we move into the home, 18 boys and 18 girls. I know this will be sometime down the road but we are hoping to get started in that direction immediately.

If you are not able to help financially at this time please hold us up in your prayers, as we take this next big step.

Thank you,
David Lloyd
